Please note that Quetzalcoatl is under active development, it is not a finished product. There will be bugs :). It's also worth mentioning that it's is pretty CPU intensive, this may improve somewhat in the future To avoid disappointment, consider downloading the free version first to make sure you get on with it.

Quetzalcoatl Expanded brings additional 4Gb of content to this open source plugin. Includes sounds from the Oberheim Xpander, Roland System 100, Kawai K3, Yamaha CS-30 and more.

Quetzalcoatl is an 8 layer sample playback plugin (VST/AudioUnit) for Mac OS, Windows & Linux (support currently limited to Ubuntu 22+). It performs traditional rompler duties, excelling at pads and evolving textures (or whatever else you fancy), but can also be used for melodic and sequenced material thanks to its comprehensive modulation/sequencing options. In this sense, you can think of it as a kind left-field groovebox.

Quetzalcoatl is inspired by the Aztec deity that shares its name. Quetzalcoatl (known to the Maya as Kukulkan), represents wisdom, art and the wind.

Quetzalcoatl is built with HISE, an open source framework for sample based instruments.

It features:

  • An 8 stage crossfading "oscillator".
  • AIF, WAV, FLAC and SFZ import.
  • Pitch controls for each stage with harmonic & scale modes.
  • Pan per stage.
  • Multistage, multimode filter with lowpass, highpass, bandpass allpass, & wavefolder modes.
  • 8 monophonic modulation sources.
  • 8 Polyphonic modulation sources.
  • 8 stage delay FX.
  • A large and diverse sound library.
